Diagnostic OB Ultrasounds

First Trimester OB <14 weeks

This is an early first trimester prenatal ultrasound performed transabdominally (on top of the belly) up to 14 weeks gestational age. The assessment includes evaluation of the following: number of embryos/fetuses, location of the pregnancy, fetal heart rate, ovaries and adnexal areas. An estimated due date will be provided.

Please note: Patients must have a full bladder for this ultrasound. **Transvaginal ultrasound is recommended for patients under 8 weeks gestation for a more detailed evaluation. If a transvaginal ultrasound is required due to limited visualization transabdominally, a $50 fee will be added.

First Trimester Screening with Nuchal Translucency

This prenatal ultrasound is performed transabdominally (on top of the belly) between 11 to 13 weeks and 6 days. This test measures the fluid filled space at the back of the baby’s neck known as the nuchal translucency. The assessment includes evaluation of the following: fetal heart rate, limited fetal anatomy with documentation of placental location, fetal brain, nasal bone, identifying both upper and lower extremities, stomach, bladder, ovaries if visualized and adnexal areas. **The results of this scan may tell you if the baby has a high or low risk of a chromosomal abnormality.

Fetal Anatomy Survey

This is a detailed fetal anatomic survey performed between 18-24 weeks gestation and assesses the anatomy and growth of the fetus. The assessment includes evaluation of the following: fetal heart rate, fetal position, placental location/cord insertion, intracranial anatomy, heart views, spine, face (profile, nasal bone, nose/lips and palate), 3VC, identifying both upper and lower extremities, gender, stomach, bladder, kidneys, renal arteries and cervix evaluated transabdominally.

Fetal Growth, Reassess Anatomy or Follow-up Exam

This is a prenatal ultrasound exam to evaluate the fetal growth, reassess fetal anatomy not previously visualized and/or follow-up from previous US findings. It is performed anytime in the 2nd and 3rd trimester. Fetal measurements include head circumference, BPD, abdominal circumference and femur to calculate an estimated fetal weight. The standard assessment includes evaluation of the following: fetal heart rate, amniotic fluid index, placental location, fetal position, stomach, bladder, 4 chamber heart, and kidneys. Additional views shall be obtained as medically necessary from prior exam recommendations or upon request.

Biophysical Profile Assessment

This is a prenatal ultrasound performed after 28 weeks gestation to evaluate the well-being of the fetus using a scoring system to assess: Fetal movement, tone, practicing breathing and amniotic fluid index. Baby must demonstrate ALL of these within a 30 minute timeframe.

Limited Assessment

This prenatal ultrasound is a follow-up exam for various indications from a prior scan such as bleeding or spotting, confirmation of viability, checking for fetal position in late pregnancy or amniotic fluid assessment.
